Express Entry System
In 2015, Canada introduced the Express Entry Immigration System. In this system, applicants for immigration to Canada are ranked based on their individual abilities and their degree of adaptation to Canadian society. Candidates with the highest rankings are invited to apply for permanent residency.
For potential skilled foreign workers, Express Entry will result in fast processing times of six months or less.
What are the immigration programs under Express Entry?
Express Entry manages applications for permanent residence under these federal economic immigration programs:
Provinces and territories can also recruit candidates from Express Entry through their Provincial Nominee Programs to meet local labour market needs.
This stream is for those candidates who have at least one year skilled work experience.
This stream is for those candidates who have at least two year work experience in trades.
This stream is for those candidates who have at least one year work experience in Canada.
Some Provincial Nominee Programs are connected to the federal Express Entry System.
