NWT Nominee Program Business Stream

The NWT Nominee Program Business Stream is pausing its intake of new applications until further notice.

The Business Stream is for people who want to start a business in the NWT, purchase an existing business based there, or invest in and operate an existing business based there.

Eligibility Requirements 

To be eligible for this stream, candidates must meet the following criterion at the time of application.

  • Experience & business ownership: 

You must demonstrate reasonable communication skills appropriate to conduct business in the Northwest Territories and to integrate into the local community

  • Net worth: 

– At least $500,000 CDN if starting or buying a business within the corporate boundaries of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories; or
– At least $250,000 CDN if starting or buying a business outside the corporate boundaries of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

  • Business proposal: 

You must submit a business proposal to establish a new business or purchase of an existing business in Northwest territories.

  • Ownership percentage: 

At least one-third (33.33%)

  • Investment: 

– A minimum of $300,000 CDN equity into starting or buying a business within the corporate boundaries of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories; or
– A minimum of $150,000 CDN equity into starting or buying a business outside of the corporate boundaries of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

 
  • Language requirement: 

Minimum of CLB 4 equivalent in English or French.
